Dr. Ali Al-Bakri is the Executive Director of the International Olympic Committee's Management, Education, and Training Programs in Lausanne, Qatar, and a lecturer in sports science, the Olympic movement, and sports psychology. He graduated from Qatar University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and earned his Master of Science degree from Arkansas Tech University in Arkansas, USA. He also holds a PhD in sports science and sports psychology from Brunel University in the United Kingdom.
In 2007 he was appointed a consultant for national teams within the National Teams Committee of the Qatar Olympic Committee. In 2008 he served as Executive Director of the International Olympic Committee's Advanced Sports Management Diploma Programme for Olympic sport institutions in Qatar.
He was subsequently nominated by the Qatar Olympic Committee among the top twenty executive directors of the Advanced Olympic Sports Management Programme worldwide, accredited by the International Olympic Committee in Lausanne, Switzerland. He has also translated several books and scientific journals on sport and the Olympic Movement, licensed by the IOC.
